A useful way of looking at the present situation of planet Earth is, this several thousand year period of time since the first enduring architectural works were constructed (beginning with naturally shaped stones, eventually using carved stone blocks) is the event in the history and future of planet Earth in which space flight was invented. Space flight permitted the survey of the nature of the World and of the Solar System.
Important determinations included the fact that what was subjectively known as the World in which human beings (as well as all other known animals and plants) lived, is the surface of a spherical planet which orbits a star.
Another important determination is that no other planet exists in the solar system that contains beings, creatures, or any other kind threat to Earth or its people, houses, farms and gardens, livestock, wild planets and animals, fishes or waters or air.
None of the imaginary gods and demons that were figments of bad dreams and superstition exist in or on planets which have atmospheres. Of course, this determination is still ongoing, although it looks like that will be the eventual totality of the outcome for the planets within the Solar System. Instead, we have a real atmosphere and real oceans favorable to life in which rational and valuable spirituality can be cultivated in the grace of rational living thought.
Only one real, actual threat was found-collisions with the earth of rocks, of which the largest are called asteroids. These can be powerful and very destructive although their frequency is very low - only one significant asteroid collision per century is anticipated. Millions of small rocks fall as meteorites which only rarely cause any damage.
The event of the emergence of space flight by Earth is likely to be a relatively singular event, in the sense that after the current century, little space flight will occur because of its very great cost and the relatively insignificant rewards.
While a disappointment to adventurers who wanted to range far into distant star systems, it does not look like that kind of space travel is in the works during foreseeable thousands of years.
In any case, it is abiding work that must be considered something of a luxury in the face of pressing factors like population moderation and global health, environmental pollution and other difficult problems.
On the other hand, nothing that ever happened in human history can be proved impossible. Unfortunately that history is composed of both very good and very bad times. It is known that some wars were caused by the struggle to reach the Moon. Some weapons development was inspired by ideas that space monsters might be lurking on the dark side of the Moon, or in Mars or other planets.
Among those industries designed to support space flight for the exploration of the solar system, particularly to answer vital questions regarding the existence or non-existence of dangers from outside planet Earth, the most valuable, vital, sustaining and necessary production for that space flight is beginning to be distinct from the least valuable, most noxious, costly and offensive forms of production
None of ths weapons developed during the emergence of space flight were found useful for any purpose except for killing human beings and other living organisms here on Earth. This does not speak well for the popularity and relative sanctity of those engaged in weapons development. To be sure, it can be argued that they will be safe because they are the ones who have weapons and will use them.
Yet society is composed of many powers besides the power to invent and make weapons, and most of the other powers are engaged in peaceful pursuits, including the pursuit of better ways to get along together well. Judging by the historical record, Earth has a very long future, which can be measured in terms of millions of years and more. Possibly billions.
So we have a billion years (estimates range to 3 billion year) history; the six or seven thousand years of preparation and attainment of space flight, probably a century of busy space flight, and tens of millions of years in the future, during which on the average human society is going to be largely and generally peaceful.
Why not now?

IT IS JUST THE MOON
Prologue
This is the beginning.
Even this beginning is just beginning.
The next forty million years will be different.
That is all we know.
IT IS JUST THE MOON
This is the world of the Moon
This world's people have flown to its moon
The moon.
Look ye and tremble
This is the world that has taken the Moon
This is the world where the Moon has footprints upon it
Of the beings who live on this world
These cities have flown to the Moon.
Look ye, and tremble
Do not fail to fear for those who cannot
Since ages past, have feared that they would not
And ages past, when millions died because they did not
Died knowing that they had not
Attained to the Moon
Fear for them
Fear these great cities for a moment
As if they are a complete surprise
And ye did not know anything about going to the Moon
And ye never knew anything about going to the Moon
And wonder what this city is, so large and big and great and vast and huge
Stupendous
So energetic
How and why is it so vast, so big?
What is it, that is so big and important?
Is it not fearsome?
I saw a snake one time
I had come up on the road
And just as I rose above the grade to see it
There was a snake, crawling across the asphalt of a rural country road
It saw me and I saw it
As soon as we saw each other a car sped by and smashed it flat
Except for its tail
The soul had fled to me in desperation
And I could see the snake's point of view
Could see for a moment with snake eyes
Beyond the horizon was a city
Above the horizon was the spirit light of a tail waving in the sky
Above the city like flexible searchlight beams
Then, I thought it was what the snake imagined the city to be
Now, I know on reflection that I saw with the eyes of the
snake soul, for in my footsteps, I knew where I was going
Wildlife is in the game we play
A distant city across the horizon
The one which was my destination
I had been there before, though the snake had not
The snake tried to rattle its tail
As if it saw a danger there
And saw no danger in dying
And knew no fear in dying
Its soul was not afraid
Despite the recent experience of being recently killed
The city which I saw with its soul was unknown to it, and strange
It was beyond the horizon that I saw the city from its soul
And it thought, that is the danger
Moments before, the snake had known
no fear of anything it knew.
And knew no fear of asphalt.
Within a second after it died it still knew no fear
It was not afraid of death at all
It had not feared death for millions of years
But there was fear in the world
About the cities, not because they are so fearsome,
Because they are unknown
What are they? Where did they come from? Why are they here?
"They are here because we built them," a human being can say.
They are here because we reached the Moon.
They emerged because we reached the Moon.
They emerged as soon as we knew we were going to attain the Moon.
And now they are the great nuclei of order and attainment.
And now they celebrate the Moon
The Grateful Dead were grateful and probably knew,
Certainly knew there was gratitude among the Dead
For reaching the Moon
That they sang and celebrated
It is not usual that we fear in our hearts for what the dead might think.
Yet we should
Sometimes
One has to be conscious
Of one's heart
Because sometimes you fear for unselfish reasons
Sometimes you fear for others
Sometimes you fear for something beyond yourself
If unprepared. Prepare to meet thy doom; it is good exercise.
Know thyself. It leaves your heart in freedom from fear.
And so many ancient heroes
Can be awakened and told "We're on the Moon"
Achilles, we are on the Moon!
Hercules, we are on the Moon!
Nero, we are on the Moon.
We are on the Moon.
List every famous man in history and issue a prayer
Of thanksgiving, understanding, to that soul,
Say, Man is on the Moon
We would have thought that had happened
When The Word was in carbon-inked newspapers around the World
It should have awakened all the dead!
It has not wakened all the dead yet.
There are sleeping dinosaurs
Even with vestigial traces of blood
Who don't know yet, or perhaps they do
That Man is on the Moon.
Oh, proud Man. We are all on the Moon.
The World has the Moon.
The World knows what the Moon is.
It was not to be feared.
It never will be to be feared, not now.
It's just the Moon.
O Man, know thyself
Know what being on the Moon means
For all the souls who
Waited since the Dawn of Time
Postlogue
Now it is what? - four Jupiters, Saturn plus a Jupiter
Since Man was first on the Moon
Fifty years since Luna 2 crashed on the Moon in sixty two
Crashed though did not fear death; it is still there.
If another decade passes with relative Peace in the World
Two Saturns will have passed, and six Jupiters
Most of one Uranus
Neptune will be slowing its distance
Since things man-made were on the Moon
Someday, when three Plutos pass in time
Around 2770
Peace will be automatic
Until then, great care is essential
Horrendous weapons were made in case the Moon
Or Mars or other planets had monsters on them
Now the quick know there are no beings on the
Worlds apart from Earth, except Man put them.
Peace.

Innocent Innovation and the Long Path
Hoping to find the path to Terran normalcy now, after six thousand years of warlike struggle and nuclear conflict finally attained the Moon, the immense antiquity of that goal begins to make appear sometimes as if people want to devolve to early mammals, or wilderness primitives at best. The danger is that we will not find the way to worldwide peace until civilization devolves too far, and either much time must pass before the serious errors are corrected, or some conflict like thermonuclear or biological war breaks out. After all, the world cannot spend the entire next million years in war. Recognizing that a solution is in principle possible makes war even more of a heartbreak than it ever seemed to be before it was known there are no space aliens on the Moon that require such weapons.
New discoveries of early human artifacts date back to 30,000 years and more. They include the use of adhesives as glue, beads, arrows, poisons, rocks for anvils and rocks. ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15565654 )
Some kinds of stone tools-hammer-stones, stone cores, and sharp stone flakes-date back over 2 million years. ( https://humanorigins.si.edu/evidence/behavior/tools )
People love to use tools to build their houses and furnish them. That's one of the reasons the unashamedly more primitive Russians simply let the people devolve themselves back to what they wanted. The results look like nothing so much as a native American neighborhood where cars are left to rust because they are in the natural order if they rust away where they stopped, and where houses often have ramshackle home made roofs and walls. Urban codes at the present time are based on the assumption that only professional, trained builders are fit to build homes, and the homes look like it. They are grand, to be sure. But what keeps a population peaceful is building their own homes.

Since the space flights became successful, people in rural Russia settled back down onto their farms to enjoy the Moon, raise families and gardens or farms with livestock, practice some Pagan religious and so on. Otherwise they are very quiet, much like rural life in the United States. American country neighborhoods are like that and it's not like what I'm suggesting it something new. Chinese neighborhoods are clearly in a state of change, what with people moving massively from farms to cities, and it is likely they will encounter the same problems we had as mechanized agriculture and constructions began in the 1900's. The Chinese have recognized some of the immense new constructions are peculiar habitations for organisms as mobile and motivated as human beings are, though they too seem to have accepted the large city for the time being.
It seems unwitting, as we have been. If humans beings were immobile like coral animals, unable to move and locked in their cells, they might live in the concrete city cubicles for millions of years. No person who can walk out will remain in such cubicles for long. Not for generations. Americans tried, and had to move to suburbs. Yet suburbs too have become a problem. In suburbs people reside there and the best they can make of it is a neighborhood that never seems to be a village. The neighborhood village seems to be a shopping mall, complete with acres of concrete and cars and no place in which to live.
I believe that now the a hand of millennia of dynastic approaches have finally met with success in attaining the Moon, governments both state and local could ease off and let their inhabitants choose their own ways of life more often, with as little government as possible at any one time. It does not seem to make crime rates increase, though it changes character and new issues emerge to be resolved, when populations begin the process of devolving the urban landscape to reflect what they choose of their own accord. That happened in Seattle, which relaxed restrictions on keeping farm animals within the city limits.
Now, chickens and other animals are more often found on a walk. Some new issues emerged, which had to be dealt with by the Federal Government. Yet dealing with change is necessary in any case. The question is whether the changes are scrutinized and correct decisions made in advance as they approach, or whether the outcomes are left to default because of too rigid adherence to regulations, laws and rules laid down in the past. During a time of change, a boat cannot be steered past rocks far behind while it is approaching new turbulent waters at rocks downstream. It is true in any season. Walking across that stream in winter when it is iced over requires care.
It is folly to think of the last six thousand years as the only critical time associated with the flights to the Moon. It is fundamental in nature that energies triggered by the vast changes which space flight unleashed, will be continuing to motivate change for the future six thousand years as well. While it is a great relief to find the Moon and Earth from space, and know what they are, it was secular truth that was to be found, Because it was found to be secular truth, it had always been inevitably to be found, yet that inevitability was never known for sure in the past, even in prehistoric times. Secular truth, like religious truth and family truth, was known since ancient times, yet secular truth was only recently sanctioned with absolution when the Earth was seen from afar.
If cities are turned over to the people as if each person is a member of the government, the urban mall shopping centers will become collective habitations perhaps like huge hogans, with residences as well as shops and stores, gardens and park-like green areas. Already this is beginning to happen as shopping centers are built with apartments above them or along side although they do not yet coordinate that with green spaces, playgrounds and schools. In some places such as Spain, planned communities have failed from the very start, an ominous thing for dinosaurs in architectural professions.
A million years hence, neighborhoods everywhere will have gone through a million years of stabilizing and not a single space alien will have reached Earth, nor will anyone have gone to the stars. It's vitally important to assess and recognize and spread knowledge about the most likely, long term paths the world is likely to follow in the very long run. Otherwise, it will take generations, and greatly increase the risk of war, before globally, the human character (that which the symbols, images, characters and words mean generation after generation) will stabilize.
Our governments and legislatures are good at that kind of thing. They can lead people to agreeably follow a well chosen long path. Most people in office have studied and worked with not only politics, but human history in the process as well. They only need to know there is a kind of long term doubt about the paths that will be found most enduring. It is not possible to say that a sidewalk adequately represents that kind of thing. The whole structure of society must be examined anew. I cannot possibly say what that will lead to.

Political leaders who have far-seeing visions of humanity's future and the world's future must present those ideas carefully to the people; they must not seem to demand urgency, but widespread, careful choice among the whole population. It means leading the people to a path which the people will follow themselves long after that leader is dead. That is the kind of leadership that is sought, and dreamed, and murmured and simmering among the people.

Long-term Sober Alarm
The massive, huge concrete architectural work-the cities, highways, dams and other structures around the world may be taken as consequences of the orderly resolution of the nature of the Earth-Moon system, with its identification of the nature of the barycenter of that system. It is the emergence of order in silicon, of course. These structures are not only anticipated with a hope that they will exist for a very long time; they emerged exactly as a result of the resolution of the very long Galactic rotation. Their existence is a singular, temporal event in that geologically immense duration.
In other words, the cities, highways and dams emerged because of the attainment of the Moon, and their strong and durable forms will endure, continually existing on an appropriately vast span of time. They are more than literally a sign that the Moon has been attained; they are a physical symptom of the new order of interplanetary exploration that will never be forgotten. More than that, the next hundred million years will be entirely different from the last. It will be impossible to escape the reminders, and impossible to avoid the change whatever it is. Even so, it could be the only place human beings will live.
To any shrewd adapting species or even individual or family this has advantages. To those cultures that may be unwary of the existence of such long term processes, it holds potentials for disasters large and small. Losers will simply become poor and extinct. Winners will become wealthy, and thrive to survive alive - on a million year time scale. Moreover, the changes are immediate and taking place with every budgetary review, bond issue, new product and planned obsolescence. The great changes taking place as a consequence of reaching the Moon are behind the success and failure of national economies. The changes are immense, and sometimes distinct to well advised legislators, business leaders, and other planners.
These facts are not a surprise to some, yet they underlie present economic difficulties more certainly than is often admitted. It should have been described candidly to the public by economic planners attempting to make sense of the difficulties, for instance, with the Euro zone countries - especially Greece and Spain which have obvious historical difficulties accepting the depth of the implications of space flight.
The sudden success brought back with the Moon rocks also has implications for the colonization of the Western continents, for they are no longer required to be enforcers of the struggle to accomplish the Moon voyages which are past successes already. If the Moon had not been attained, it is likely that the world would have already engaged in the Third World War and much of the world would be radioactive rubble.
The cities are thriving, and human beings are lovingly cultivating them, with a very just and deep aversion to being interrupted with any hint of another war, and that is a natural outcome of the world's success. It was remarkable how attentive the entire world became when the first Apollo Astronauts were walking on the Moon. The entire human population was rapt, with an intensity that saturated the general concern for their local environments; they were engrossed with a global unity that is difficult to describe and it contained serious, determined responsibility for how the world is to be governed. Now, people everywhere are turned away from war, and happy not to be interrupted by it as well as justly annoyed when reminded of it by those who profit from war.
It is time to mention, once in a while in budgetary events, that the economics of the new world have only somewhat to do with ancient traditional patterns of economic activity. In the days of Old and New Kingdom Dynasties and their intervening hiatus, entire civilizations had to collapse and be left to future generations whenever a new principle was discovered that was not understood workably. That's not happening now.
Modern practice is quick to peacefully, though aggressively, conduct and perform research programs to determine any new fact, event, or principle as soon as it is identified. Each new economic activity is now, to an extent, tested for its long term value.
Even so, this could be improved by more candid mention of the difference between the vast future ahead, and the groping, ignorant and prehistoric past. Ensuring that all members are given a sense of the very long futures which modern decisions may affect goes far to cause them to turn to the problem with an intention to strengthen the peace. In the outcome, peace is far more important than it ever was before, and it can afford to be strong.
People are sick of war. The whole world is tinged with regret at the magnitudes of war that were fought during the long development of whatever it would cost to reach the Moon. In retrospect, though half a billion years of instinct drove the final thousands of years to attain that celestial disk and the struggle could not be avoided, it is becoming clear that none of the techniques that were successful in those flights, required killing anybody on Earth. It did not require human or animal sacrifice, even if it was concealed or inveigled into the complex and intricate physical systems as an accident.
The systems used to get to the Moon were not merely an accommodation or arrangement with some god, deity, or principle. No sacrifice of life was actually necessary to reach the Moon, collect Moon rocks, and return alive to Earth unharmed-with the rocks. Yet thousands of years of myth, superstition, ignorance and tyranny had convinced vast populations that human beings would inevitably find someone or some thing to fight against in the planets and stars. It is not just a matter of "so far, none have been encountered." The real though rare danger from falling rocks, which are meteors or asteroids, is used as a lynchpin to enforce convenient, ruthless and false ideas that space aliens are always just around the corner.
The Moon and Mars turned out to be the only places in the Solar System where human beings could stand (aside from dozens of moons so small as to be worthless as property). Even Mars and the Moon have no significant air or water, despite the enthusiastic determination to hope for those elements essential to life.
There are NO places in the solar system where any living alien threat can exist. Claiming that danger from space aliens among the planets, or nearly upon us from the stars, in the hopes of drumming up more war profiteering is literally criminal. It is irresponsible, tantamount to insane. It is a product of the lucrative behind the scenes skullduggery collusion between the Military and Hollywood.
Consider the science fiction industry. It pumps out what in earlier days would have been hysterical propaganda accusing another human group of being monsters, demons and insane murderers. Nowadays, subtle changes still depict false and amplified scenarios of human beings desperately fighting strange forces, monsters, aliens, Martians, and interstellar space craft. These "thrilling" scenarios are almost plainly recruiting scenarios for was on the ground, at sea or in the air. They are warmongering industries. One of the Strangelove scenarios is lent as a prop to the Hollywood science fiction industry in a state recently troubled by outbreaks of "unexplainable" violence. That prop prop is the North American Air Defence Command Headquarters in Cheyenne Mountain, a granite outcropping in the Rocky Mountain range that runs north
and south through several states.
Balancing a thermonuclear arsenal poised with the capability of annihilating Cairo, Paris, Beijing, Moscow and scores of other million-person cities, with the manufacture of speculative and fictional "extra"-terrestrial demonism in a nation that labels illegal immigrants as "aliens" describes the United States in a sad yet too accurate way. The state in which those acts of "unexplainable" violence occurred is notorious for its hard line internal contradictions. The Cheyenne Mountain combination of Hollywood near superstitious space fiction and nuclear armed Continental Defense industries is only one of those contradictions. There are more, in that state and others.
Here in Seattle, at the old Union Station rail depot, there is a twenty foot statue of the astonishingly barbaric, obscenely brutal ancient superstition god Anubis, the Egyptian Jackal God. What in the name of human decency is that doing without at least some indication it is a human superstition and not an accurate representation of any actual living creature?
It is time to take a more responsible look at what the last six, maybe ten thousand years of armed warfare to reach the Moon has made of America and the rest of the world.

Political Implications of Hubble Red Shift in Evolutionary Law
This started as a "History Conjugate to Hubble Red Shift" which immediately was obviously grandiose.
Hubble Red Shift, correctly understood, sets a new and better standard for the light of truth.
Time passes during the motion of light which distinguishes it absolutely from the reverse direction.
That time comes out of life. The time during light's motion is the essence of time. The passage of light IS the passage of time.
This is so even in the political front, where time is of the essence. True, time is of the essence in mortgages, in contracts as well, and often in law. This only means that in those very places where political action is desperately necessary for some of the people, it is precisely because they have no homes and no contracts that are protected by laws.
Some thug is obsessed with finding a particular word here.
Light everywhere around us, every day, is shifted in frequency each cycle of its wave motion, so slightly that the shift is unnoticeable.
The Hubble or cosmic "red" shift is imperceptible, because it is very small.
It is too small to see. It is just barely possible that certain large experimental devices, such as a successor to LIGO, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory, will be able to infer the Hubble Red Shift from delicate phase measurements in light that has traveled several kilometers (or more) in a specially, carefully constructed tunnel. More than one of these exists-one in Washington State and one in the state of California. The experiments will probably continue until they SHOULD be able to unambiguously detect the distance red shift, yet it is not easy to see how yet.
Edwin Hubble allowed that red shift he detected would be called or identified in two ways.
In one way, it is thought of as a distance red shift and in the other way, it is thought of as a velocity red shift. These two are mathematically very distinct. It is not an unusual event for mathematics to precede later discoveries of phenomena in the real, actual or physical world, so that those attempting to discern just which mathematics must face the possibility that it is one branch of mathematics, or another branch of mathematics, or even simply different terms in similar or one equation. What seems to be one phenomenon can be gradually resolved, through the work of many different people over sometimes hundreds of years, into two entirely different phenomena altogether. What seems like a precipitous, daring, dangerous goal to a person who is not a mathematician or scientist, can be to the mathematician and scientist merely a threshold on which one side of which the phenomenon must be of one kind, on the other side of which it must be another kind.
In the case of light, red shift can be of two different kinds. It can be a velocity or Doppler Shift, or it can be a distance shift. It is not known for certain that distance shift exists, because of intense competition to claim that the entire universe must fit under human jurisdiction. On the other hand, history is full of examples when the world is gradually or not, discovered to be so extreme in some one or several dimensions, that it cannot fit into or under any human jurisdiction at all. The thinking that leads to errors such as this arises from a gradual cooperative and enthusiastic encouragement by two or more different entities, such as a military and a theology. The one is saying, "We are up to any challenge to our environment" and the other is saying "God is over us all". Any opinion that some phenomenon, not entirely understood, is beyond both of those immediately is drawn into a dialogue which at times in history has led to being eaten by lions in front of thousands of spectators in blood sport, or burned at the stake in events in which the hapless victim's ashes were thoroughly stirred and scattered in the forest or on the waters of the sea so that the horrible loathsome issue would "relax".
God will protect us. God will protect us from what? Space aliens? "THE" space aliens?
Six thousand years of superstition and war based on behemoth constructions that were, whether intentionally or not, used to terrify people that something from the big, big universe would come and be dangerous. What's really inside a pyramid? Usually, human bones and artifacts. No space aliens.
Now the behemoth constructions are called capital. In a sense, it was like making the head of the organism into the currency of the economic systems. Capital can be designed well and used honestly, or it can be designed badly and full of errors. Capital can be designed badly, full of errors, and used dishonestly.
Dishonest capital is the creation of superstitions, fears, and other alarming ideas based on false images. False ideas can be presented as fiction, yet this does little good for children. An example is a fiction movie, called "science" fiction, depicting a fictional discovery of fictional space creatures in a fictional space ship that was found at a fictional place in frozen Arctic ice.
How does a population, viewing that fiction, separate truth from falsehood when they have food stored in the freezer compartment of their refrigerator at home, and when in most parts of the country, winters as usual bring ice the real and snow? How do their children get fear out of their lives? That is only a minute beginning to the cleanup problem facing the world now that Earth's people and life attained the Moon. This is just a start on cleaning up the mess created by the clumsy way Earth's life proceeded to fly to the Moon. Considering of course, that the first attempts were almost certain to have been made by hopping creatures and birds, it is a wonder the capital attempt of the most recent ten thousand years succeeded. Yet, of course it can be said that, considering the success of tools and technology, it was that longer run that was inevitably to be successful since the goal was in fact possible in principle.
The cunningly designed real robots that actually drive around on Mars, measure the air and temperature, send back to Earth photos of the Martian landscape's, its hills and valleys (marrain?,) the meteorological conditions on the red planet, the whirlwinds and Moons and Sun from the surface of Mars-those robots are as much tools as are the bow and arrow, fishnet, the mortar and murder weapon so exalted by the military thugs who want to keep the world terrified of fictional, imaginary space aliens. Down, thugs. When the space aliens come, then we will wake you. Go back to your underworld. If taxes were laid on fiction, you military thugs would be the first to lie. A responsible military would not exaggerate dangers from space and would not claim the presence of enemies when no enemies have ever been discovered from space, when the only dangers known from space are large meteors and asteroid collisions-the one far less dangerous than lightning, and the other extremely rare even in geologically terms.
How strained and narrow is that ground of truth which is controlled by the military, on which is permitted any suggestion of moderation on the part of the military dreamer! As the author gains courage and discernment, details are added to political history in the light of Hubble Red Shift.
Correctly described, in evolutionary law. And we shall see what gravity is implied by light from cosmologically extreme distances..
The Quantum of Action is the Currency of Evolution
The quantum of action is also the economic goal. It is small, and implies that meticulous activity is to be the norm in society. If you want the nation to survive the recession easily as a nation, inform the people completely, with greatly gentle thoroughness, of all they need to know about the nature of the action quantum. It is one of a handful of greatest discoveries in history. Most people imagine it is too small to worry about. Sometimes it comes in floods. It has simple yet surprising dimensions and is marvelously versatile in nature. It is definitely what it is (several ways), and not something else.
Kindergarten children are old enough to understand action. Toys can be devised to present action in amusing, harmless, benign and safe. Toy manufacturers already know this, because action toys are amusing. Unfortunately, those dedicated to war tend to usurp all forms of the action and forbid toys that present the action in its magnitude, dimensions and variety of forms.
War makers tend to present an idea that the only goal of action is killing, control, capture or dominance. It's not clear that they know that guiding a nation about the nature of action is something that could be woven into toys with the particular goal of informing its long term population because the action quantum will be part of economic activity for millions of years. Perhaps a military adjunct would present a carnival display of harmless, interesting, activity. People are really happy when enforcement does a good job of protecting the market place so that people can get on doing their business without being harmed by terrorists. That contrast goes all the way to the quantum in its fineness.
The great event which was the emergence of mankind, -into a constructing, language-speaking, writing and tool-using creature determined to reach the Moon,- has begun the conclusion of that great advancement. In the aftermath, new goals, futures and destinies will emerge from the quiet. Quiet because in evolution, action emerges quantum by quantum from the smallest ranges of life itself. We know of the importance of delicacy in the action in certain events, such as settling a fly exactly over a fish. Yet the fish and fly hook are a part of the zero sum game: equivalent win win games are vital in the measures of civil action that always exist in cultured civilization. Money is one form of the action. Yet money too often takes on zero sum aspects that impoverish many, sustain large numbers well, and enrich some beyond all comprehension. What are the dimensions of action in imbalanced distribution? There is no law that says rich people are intrinsically criminal, although economics is not well understood and some believe that being rich is criminal if the rich have more money than those who hold that opinion.
Now that the six thousand year event is ending in success, the world is on a long run course for the next million years and more. Inevitably, at any rate. Quantum mechanics shows / reveals / demonstrates that time and energy are among its appearances. That means the dimensions of the quantum can be resolved to a product of time and energy. In the longer view of the future which the world is grateful to it possible to look more confidently into the future again. Remember after Second World War, the almost sacred song "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever?". That's what's happened. It's that way forever, and people are more confident every day that it is possible to secure and strengthen the peace. Mostly, peacefully, and through world cooperation among the good, and for the whole world.
What does that mean that energy is conjugate to time? The quantum of action is that it is a natural quantity of action. It is very small, and a primitive component of energy and of power. Action is when the mousetrap springs, the starting gun fires, the balloon pops, the bird alights or takes off, the alarm clock rings. Action is when the spark plug fires. Action is when energy changes. Especially suddenly.
The action overall - that is, the global and general patterns and distributions of activity, will be in roughly a pattern that, while not disturbed by war, at least will be modified only by the usual natural events such as seasons, wind, rain, sunlight and the planets, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, meteors, tornadoes, droughts and the like-as well of course by human activities. While not as vast as natural phenomena, human activity in the past has a bad reputation for being among the most selectively immiserating and the most perniciously difficult to solve of all the things that seemingly should have a solution. With the attainment of the Moon, that difficulty-war-appears to be slowly coming to an end. Peace will permit nature to become a cultivated part of civilization and human life will not ever again just being us against the shadows and violence of nature. People have made the world nicer and more lovely since the attainment of space flight, that they have deep, completely justified feelings about anybody who so much as thinks of war again. Just ask people in Poland or Czechoslovakia or Greece - or almost anywhere for that matter.
What it means in the energy though, is this. The very long picture ahead, and knowledge that the quantum is an extremely fine natural unit of action, together imply that energy needs for the foreseeable future must be accounted very finely. That is, energy needs must be accounted on a quantum scale. In other words, the quantum units on which our actions are based are a sort of currency, and much, much smaller than was anticipated. (In fact, nobody anticipated the quantum at all.) It is as though the great Treasury of the World came down and said, "The currency is being changed. From now on, you will have to account your finances in units of one millionth of one dollar." It is not a matter of inflating the currency unit again. It is a matter of making the small end currency unit compatible with the atomic, quantum and wavelength size scales.
Now, how much action needs to be measured? It is not the total quantity. A whale or an elephant both engage in astronomical quantities of action - that is, astronomical numbers of quanta - yet their activity is resolved to the finest degree, to the quantum, apparently, or near to it. That is why they appear so graceful.
Streamlining does some of this, and is a rough first approximation to grace. Eliminating noise pollution is another good direction. And so on.
That's why the economy appears to be in a 'lull' or "recession" It is not that that we are doomed. It's just - aka justice - because that's the way it is. Quiet in the court of the World. For the next million years (or sometime during it) human civilization will learn to account its actions down to the quantum. Fortunately, we can do it better than the insects. We have computers, bit by bit. A bit is pretty small- and a good step in the right direction. A bit is a quantum of information.

Prolonged and Totally New Economic Recovery
Economic
recovery will not only be deeper and more prolonged than expected.
It will very likely be toward economic patterns and forms that have
never existed before anywhere on Earth.
This
is what I believe. I believe human civilization has never
experienced, in its entire existence, the kind of economy that
would have developed had Earth never been engrossed in the thousands
of years of inexperienced, primitive, virgin constructions and warring struggle
to get to the Moon. All bets have to be off for a time.
Life
on Earth was evolving toward the Moon since six hundred million years
ago when swimming and crawling living creatures were pulled back and
forth in the tides by the Moon's gravity. Now, even gravity is
understood in an entirely new light. Now, silicon is becoming sentient.
Siliiceous hexactinellid sponges build themselves cross-linked silicate girders, like the steel girder skeletons of tall modern buildings. How did they know? What else was known? Who designed that?
Secularist creationist would say, their simpler ancestor sponges did, after the ancestors of those sponges designed them. Theologians will say, the union of that which causes diversification in life's forms is God. What please, is the difference?
I
believe that we will pick up where Neanderthal and other prehistoric
human groups left off, before evolution toward the Moon understood, that their
own emerging descendants would have the stuff to get to that
satellite of Earth. That is why so many young people are said to be acting like savages, primitives, or barbarians-all totally unjust. Society is devolving. As the Whole Earth Catalog says, "We are as gods and might as well get good at it."
Refusal
or failure to comprehend the time scale will likely doom us to more
unnecessary wars. The only real question remaining is, what will the
World be conceived as, after both men and women have been on the
Moon. Those journeys will be an honorable project for international
cooperation between all of the space-faring nations and for many
others who will be very happy to participate – and, by the way,
avoid more war.
The
international project need not be rushed, yet it should be announced,
openly discussed, and its earliest stages presumed to be a part of
current ongoing projects. The time line can evolve as it is
opportune and necessary.
Timelines now span what were once called aeons, long ago when the weather could neither be predicted nor remembered. Now, estimates of some weather conditions extend out decades, even centuries. Planetary ephemeris are calculated accurately tens of thousands of years, and can be calculated for the past with equivalent certainty.
Accurate contrast between prediction of events long after we ourselves live, and recollection of events long before we existed, it a not yet fully developed amusement, and invokes galactic rotation as an extension of the anciently familiar equatorial and ecliptic motions.
It
may be that Earth will be engaged in the assessment of the World
(meaning the Earth, Sun, Moon and planets) for the entire millennium,
making it probably the most exciting and anticipated thousand years
in history. An entire planet of values would be jeopardized by
failure to immediately quell war and aggression. Consider Poland, so ravaged that its national capital, Warsaw, is known as War-Sore.
Those
who work for peace, if they fully understand their world in a scale
equivalent in scope to this picture, can be assured that vast
resources are available to support their cause. Yet those resources consist
partly of informing military interests, in the responsible
nations, of what they find.
People throughout the world are turning
toward long-term peaceful domestic activity. In doing so, some are
actually experiencing the need to be daring in venturing to enjoy
their activities and accomplishments. The joy they express is timid,
lest war invade and destroy them. It is as if they dare not hope too
much, because hope in the past was always dashed and ruined by
destruction.
That very hope, though, is now based on the sound
premises discovered in space flight by hundreds of people, living
witnesses to the Earth from space, and in everyday communications
throughout the world. It has the strength of reality to it-a new
kind of reality, communicated through television and other media
that, themselves, never existed.
Must
the whole world's people be relegated to trusting new and strange
technological miracles, peaceful in their nature, to abandon the
idiotically tried and proven ruination and damnable destructiveness
of war? This might be a big jump. Psychologists will have to
determine likely outcomes of certain scenarios.
For instance, if a
person is watching news reports of the day, and they contain a normal
assortment of good and somewhat distressing news, and some hothead
aggressor ho type comes in and says the neighboring village is
invading, and he cannot go immediately to witness the source of the
neighbor's determination to fight, who is he to believe? This is
similar to the way in which military hackles to up at every seemingly
strange move by another country.
As an example, it was disconcerting,
although even the military found it eventually amusing, to find that
the Chinese interest in war in the Pacific again is less than
adamant. So much so that, indeed, the Pentagon has allowed the
United States has been forward enough in its wartime insistence on
United States supremacy.
This
is not to fault anybody; it simply means everybody came from a more
difficult, preternatural, and awkward history into a new era in which
the World is much different than it has been expected to be. During
the past several thousand years, myth, superstition, and religion had
all been distorted,
strained
and distressed by speculation that the Moon, Sun and planets might
have any or all kinds of strange, wonderful and dangerous things in
or on them.
The path of religion was always distorted by primitive assumptions and
pagan regimes. Now, the secular image of the World is one of the more
reliable ideas of what the World actually is, and religion itself is banking on it.
Clarity is almost supreme, throughout the Solar System. It's fine
with many scientists, including this one, if God exists.
Sometimes, even within living memory an otherwise respected professor would insist that
all mention of religion was impermissible in the sciences. Scientists have a moral obligation at least to be
willing to speak through translators to the ministry, if they will
not learn any graceful languages themselves.
Creation is not an ism. Even according to the driest and most austerely oppressive atheism, the emergence of life on Earth was driven by at least meteorological and hydrological processes in mineral laden waters,
which are thus prolonged and repeated causative principles that serve
to strain chemical activity into narrower and increasingly ordered
patterns of action. Thus, if the absolutist scientist cannot grant me even the right
to believe that a fresh wind feels good, what good is he? Now
he will urgently claim that this which I have said is a prolonged, endless
harangue, as if it is much longer than the time it took life to
emerge on Earth no matter who or what moved and guided it.
So
to the point. The secular picture of the world – that which is
obtained by actual persons as witnesses in space and on the Moon, and
by human engineered robots on Mars and at other planets, by
weather, mapping, and survey satellites – is so beyond any of the
primitive conceptions held of the World, ever. Gone are all the
demons, monsters, space aliens, fabulous gardens, man-eating plants
and strange life forms; they are all nonsense. They never existed,
and their only traces are the ghosts of dreams.
Gone
too, are the big Mommy and Daddy extraterrestrial civilizations that
were to come to Earth and save mankind from itself and its so often
stupidly treasured penchant for destruction. No magical spaceships
with super-intelligent divinely superior human beings come to Earth,
not even from London, to instruct man How to Live. We are grateful
and thankful and happy that the Chinese are successful in also
orbiting spacecraft in which human beings can witness the Earth's
realities. People from many nations will join them too, just as they
traveled in Russian and American spacecraft.
With
the growing population of space-witnesses to Earth, the truth is
gaining in strength, popularity, familiarity and acceptability not
only in families who have never been to space, but believe it or not,
with the pets such as horses, goats, sheep, dogs and cats. The new
secular concept of the Earth is pure and clean, with well ordered
rules of flow, gravity, light and warmth. It does not conceal
inestimable or incomprehensible dangers. Now, no people anywhere are
monsters, and no persons are monsters. Gone forever are the days
when those beyond the nearby mountains might have been trolls or
dragons to be feared and killed.
These
are extraordinarily big changes in concept. They are an extension of
the concept far beyond root instincts. The depth of new concepts
must be taken into account when old national differences begin to
strain senses and tempers. Nothing like these times ever happened
before.

Long-run Anglo-European Paranoia
It appears that the nations legacy to the Roman Empire (and possible earlier) have made a kind of enclave out of Europe, in which they hope to defend that legacy against the global globalization of all nations. This, urgently interpreted, seems to imply that England and Europe are under imminent threat from bombardment with missiles of all kinds, including nuclear. Yet the threat consists mainly that cultural diffusion will ensure an eventual uniformity to Earth's societies. At any rate, if that future is not the cause of nuclear paranoia, the extent to which eventual global homogeneity should be at least determined in order to ensure that present day planners know just what to subtract from their fears.

CAPSAICIN AND THC SINCE THE CRETACEOUS
Capsaicin has a functionality similar to tetrahydrocannabinol.
The two chemicals could each probably use yet another name, names that reflect the formal structure that makes them similar.
Both chemicals are long, that is, extensive in one dimension, and they have different ends which have through evolutionary time taken on different characteristics which are in turn used to distinguish separate principles.
One end is complex and heavy, so heavy that it has a gravitational field that is chemically noticeable. The other end is very light and as a result the electric field associated with its molecular structure is distinct from the gravitational field.
Capsaicin is much weaker at making these two fields distinct, though if one understands gravitational and electric fields well enough, the distinction is still perceptible.
It was probably flowering plants that discovered the fact that some long molecules have heavier ends and "lighter" ends, than others. That would have been sometime in the past at least a hundred and twenty million years, because flowering plants were thought to have emerged then. In fact, the distinction could have been as old as trees, upward of 500 million years.
Apparently certain of the plants would concentrate these long, anti-symmetrical molecules, at first in bulk structure, and later in flowers and seeds because they more strongly affected the plant's survival in those more sensitive parts of the plant.
Insect flight, as of dragonflies, implies the older origin of the distinction between gravitational and electric fields by plants, because it could explain the way flight emerged at all.
The plants grew up, tall, high. Insects and other animals could climb them. Flying would have become an early dream or goal. At the same time, both kinds of animals consumed plants. Eventually some discovered the long, anti-symmetrical molecules that were a part of the technique used by plants to distinguish between gravity's downward direction and electricity's upward direction.
The earliest molecules that were long and distinguished mass from electric charge were more primitive than the two discussed above. Insects would have been the first consumers of long, anti-symmetrical molecules and the first to use them to advantage. The electric field end would have led worms to grow legs which formed insects of low order. The low-order insects would have grown feelers and appendages of various kinds. The appendages would have includes many things such as fur, and one of the most important would have been antennas which were feelers sensitive to the external electric fields surrounding the creatures.
Eventually, the anti-symmetrical molecules, along with the earlier developments they inspired - legs, extensions, appendages, feelers and antenna - would have brought the desire go beyond merely falling and hopping, to a desire to fly.
Millions of years of chewing on long anti-symmetrical molecules that had a gravitationally heavy end and an electrically charged light end, would have brought about success in the striving for and development of wings.
Much recently, flowering plants have invented capsaicin. It is a chemical by which birds are relatively unaffected. The reason is clear: birds have already attained flight, and no longer need to taste capsaicin.
THC is a longer molecule and its makes a much more extensive and obvious distinction between gravity and electric fields, including both electric field attraction and electric field repulsion.
That's why, at once, people who use THC are "heavy" as in "heavy, dude", and at the same time light-headed and "high". They are, to use the jargon's argot, really getting into that high sensation. Of course the important high sensations have been the development of air and space flight, as well as the construction of tall architectural works. On the other hand, these industrial market technologies are still somewhat coarse in molecular terms, though they are far more pure than ever happened in the past, and much more is known about what is going on because of the development of rational, recorded thought conducted with persistence for, if necessary, centuries of time. In addition, as technology progresses it is beginning to pay closer, more meticulous attention to its products, and nanoscale products are approaching and beginning to merge with molecular scale activity. To make things even more impressive, discovery of the quantum of action has made the nano- and molecular design phases of technology completely uncanny.
One does not need THC to savor the old chemical high, because ordinary hot peppers are fine for that. Just pay attention in the flavor (the burning sensation) to the difference between the molecular gravitational and electric fields at opposite ends of the capsaicin molecules that are searing your taste buds.
As for the other drugs, one surmises that opium molecules which are produced by poppies are degenerate, and do not differentiate between the gravitational and electric fields at all. They induce creatures to give up striving to fly. The morphine molecule is a heavy, dense, compact structure which looks like it was designed to, or accidentally stumbled upon, be formed like a triangle with a CH3 molecule at one apex and two HO molecules.
The opium molecule looks like it was designed to cashier the -CH3 methyl group's reputation for being "light" and thus end its value as a molecular symbol for something that is distinct from gravity, which, because of the hydroxyl groups, simply anchors two apices of the molecule in water-containing substances like damp earth and mud. God only knows what ants think of it.

Quantum Evolution and a Hiatus to Spaceflight
The appearance of the quantum activity in telecommuting and all other human industries is destined to have profound effect on transportation, and likely to result in a diminishing importance to spaceflight beyond Earth orbit.
Certain studies of the prospects for space flight indicate that a distinctly nonzero chance exists that human beings will never attain space flight to the stars at all, or that millions of years may pass before they do. It may not be human beings as we know ourselves who reach the stars.. Spaceflight to the stars, searching for the Goldilocks planets, may be vital in the more distant future if Earth ever becomes uninhabitable for any reason, but that might not occur for millions of years. During that time the inhabitants of Earth will always be conscious of the possibility of flight to the stars, and will be evolving themselves and their designs and systems toward that goal, but it may not be attained until life on Earth is very different from what it is today.
Meanwhile, much is already changing change here on Earth.
The transportation glut is partly motivated even now by vestiges of the Cold War fear that nuclear war would require constant, large scale and hurried transportation of weapons across the country; that vestiges of the heavily inflated imaginary world projecting invasion of the Earth by space monsters, combined with sheer profit motive, drive the construction of roads and highways and the rampant production and sales of motor vehicles.
Meanwhile, the historical discoveries of the gravitational constant, speed of light, electronic charge, electron and proton masses and the nature and magnitude of the quantum are drawing human beings inexorably toward more meticulous, increasingly complete accounting of these things in all we do.
The result is that the transportation glut will collapse to sufficiency; to production on a far more carefully measured scale, and a return of sensibility in the magnitude of constructions of every kind. Human beings will never be daunted by very large constructions in the future, yet neither will they find the profit in gargantuan constructions is so inevitable that immense size is always the best possible solution.
These are among the reasons arts and crafts and other cottage industries are enjoying what appears at first to be merely extremely popular yet frivolous small economic factors. The need to design manufactures of wares and constructions in far more complete detail is intrinsic to life. It is why naturally evolved organisms have such fantastic variety of forms and details. The problem was not that life was making itself detailed; it was that wild organisms never had measurable and accountable understanding of the physical principles intrinsic to their own living forms. Now, human beings do. They care why their children have the forms, size and color that they are born with. They don't want missing factors in understanding why procreation leads form in the directions it does.
As human beings find increasingly widespread agreement on forms, they understand the material world in increasing detail as well. We are no longer content to allow trucks and other transportation equipment to turn cities into a deafening hell of noise pollution or poisonous gases or implacable danger. We are no longer willing to allow architectural structures to waste energy heating and cooling themselves with artificial machines when natural processes already heat and cool the very same structures.
Redefining the nature and meaning of transportation through optimizing every quantum of activity involved in the transportation will busy civilization for thousands of years, yet it is already drawing a close to the time of careless, brutish design. Nobody knows how to project developments in transportation and communication, yet already telecommuting is having profound, signal effect on the transportation industries. New developments in communications, telecommuting, relationships, organization and society literally do come, quantum by quantum, as the feel of quantized action becomes commonplace. That will not cease, ever.

Error and Adjustment in the Electric Field Constant
During the most recent ten years of my admittedly private research I slowly came to a conclusion that the Faraday and Henry derived electric and magnetic field constants are canonical constants, not secular. The electric field constant was arbitrarily chosen by a ruling class and the eventual result would be gross distortion of justice.
Their dimensions appear to be sound, because of the topological dimensions, not because of the observed fields of electrostatic and electromagnetic phenomena. Both magnitudes, however, were arbitrarily set by the willful choice of magnitude for the electric field constant. Research in those times inevitably required close cooperation and license; liberty, granted either from the royalty; or membership in an ennobled family.
The electrostatic field discovered by Faraday in England is a linear non-rotating system and the electromagnetic field discovered subsequently by Henry in America is a rotating system. These discoveries would go unquestioned until the discovery of radio by Marconi and Hertz, and once radio communications was announced, nobody would dare question or change the values that had been assigned to the electric and magnetic field constants.
That rotating systems existed was known in England but not followed at that time and place. Rather, it was propitious for English ruling classes to ensure that the linear electric field phenomena were securely defined in a manner suitable to the form of government at that time, that is, the royal and crown forms of government which were highly partial to transparent and specially though naturally colorful gems, jewels, crystals, and glass for the ruling classes, and imposing iron in the form of fences, gates, maces, truncheons, spears, and firearms such as cannon with grapeshot and bombs on the common people in that and many other governments by force.
It was clear that an English speaking government was establishing itself in the Americas, and England left it for the Americans to resolve the other dimensions, because Americans were happy to purchase English iron goods and would come to something.
Henry did, and it was eventually determined that these two constants could be related to the speed of light.
However, in modern secular mathematics it seems possible that two constants could be resolved which relate electric and magnetic phenomena to the speed of light, while keeping the fundamentally topological forms of the equations, yet arbitrarily or not, setting the two constants to be numerically equal and of such magnitude that their product is still related to the speed of light.
If this is true, it could explain some of the vexing ornery bytes, snits, quarrels, altercations and wars that dealing with England often gets into. It could illuminate, too, the furiously intense industrial production of iron that ultimately found its way into the cannons, machine guns, tanks and other weapons of war, with the resulting incalculable slaughter of so many.
That is not to say that at any one time innocence did not exist, but it was often distorted by class and other values. At any one time every researcher was probably thought very innocent of brutal intention. But in evolutionary time, from centuries and millenniums to millions of years, scientific constants have extremely powerful effects. Errors in estimating or planning those constants are eventually almost certain to cause horrific error.
That is why the electric and magnetic field constants should be reviewed from their very inception. Why was the magnitude of Faraday's permittivity originally set at the value it has today?
Was that value consistent with the very long term geological history and resolvable future of the world, if it is known in advance that it must have, with a magnetic field constant, a stable relationship to the speed of light?
Think of it: the JPL ephemeris calculates the positions of stars and planets now out to ten thousand years with high accuracy; the LAGEOS and ETALON satellites are planned to stay aloft millions of years; artifacts on the Moon will probably remain in place millions of years as well. The Martian objects could do the same, and the lander on Titan also.
We are in a time scale now that dwarfs the mere centuries since Faraday and Henry worked. It is time to investigate the development of those two constants with a little detective work. It would make good curriculum in "History of Science" classes in high schools, colleges and universities.

Natural Activity Exceeds the Range
Alarmingly, natural activity exceeds the range between zero-sum predator-prey competition and win-win cooperation. That is because action is brought to the world in every light-like wave, and quickly leads to astonishing and exceeding varieties in the resulting molecular forms and activity that emerge between species as well as among the human species.
A natural balance exists between zero-sum predator-prey games and cooperative win-win games. This is difficult to see close up but at the extremes there are factors which create limits preventing absolute dominance by one form or the other.
The whole ecosystem grows toward abundance, yet it does not care whether that growth is through zero-sum competition or win-win cooperation. It is throughout the entire planet.
Variations include:
Cross-species cooperation introduces opportunities to see ways in which services to another species can be traded for services in return. In other words, win-win games can more easily evolve between species that are different, than among otherwise unidentifiable groups within one undifferentiated species. The species differentiation becomes a tool.
Undifferentiated species can demonstrate win-win relationships in abundance though it frequently consists of relationships between individuals, not subgroups of otherwise indistinct individuals. If a subgroup emerges, then it tends to evolve differences in form or behavior that make the distinction easier to accomplish.
Zero-sum predator-prey relationships are not based very much on intelligence, which prefers to avoid pain. On the other hand, they serve the humbler roles of fighters, defenders or attackers more readily. In particular, zero-sum predator-prey relationships sacrifice the feel-good though intellectually demanding win-win negotiations and instead yield to suffering the indignity of being consumed alive in an extreme state of pain which is probably naturally converted into a kind of masochocistic state of blissful surrender in agonizing pain. This is a natural extreme of prey animals.
Notably, few prey animals waste much energy on vocalizing their pain and the vocalization does not extent into extremes of volume much beyond their normal calling volume, though they may be more chaotic.
The point is that in human society there will always be two distinct reaches and they are not necessarily predictable. At the outset, it should be remarked that because literate descriptions are usually the domain of the win-win approach, it is normal to find zero-sum conditions described disparagingly.
The author will try to avoid making value distinctions more than to make the value extremes distinct.
At one end of the range, intelligent persons communicate, confer, assemble and in other ways discuss the state of society, its needs, problems, and goals, and arrange ways in which different, cooperating groups can produce solutions, goods and services, guidance, plans and systems to solve present and future needs of society. Because it involves the exchange of intelligent information, it is typical for considerable time to be spent on measuring problems and estimating solutions in terms of energy and other variables related to the action.
For some sophisticated problems such as economic, architectural, or sensitive services such as education, negotiations, design and planning may span years.
Particularly in any event, the outcome of which is certain to involve distinctly pure energy outcomes - such as the proposed though far from scheduled exploration of Mars in depth - the spacecraft that will carry human beings to the Martian surface, support them during the exploration, and return them safely to Earth will involve a staggering range of energy*time outlays of action.
Just at the outset, let me say this is based on a time indulgent assumption of several centuries before comfortably designed systems are likely to emerge. Anytime during the next thousand years is probably soon enough.
That of course is one extreme of civilization. Another extreme is the omnivorous consumption of food animals which are raised specifically for the purpose of slaughter for human consumption. The milking of dairy animals is a specialized subcategory of that. In return for abundant food and water, protection from disease and wild animals, and other factors assuring their abundance, food animal species suffer as briefly and painlessly as possible - certainly less painful than being chewed into pieces while still alive as wild predators do in taking prey.
The wild predation model is at another extreme of the energy balance picture. There are few or no opportunities among predator-prey groups for negotiating intellectual decisions, although some prey herds manage to use the chase scene as a means of winnowing out weaker and less popular individuals who are left as prey for the predator, instead of potential mates which might not produce the most desirable offspring.
So the distribution of life activities into the very broad range between zero sum predator-prey relationships, and cooperative win-win strategies, is, with a little tolerance for gross details distributed among the species of earth as variations on the energy relationships.
At one end, species engage in the fine-energy balances of working out detailed activities to help each other either in form or energy or both. Flowers adapt forms to accommodate bees, other insects and animals, while the animals of every kind adapt their behavioral activity.
This is a case where, across a boundary of kind (plant vs. animal) the two typically have settled on two different forms of the action. Plants adapt, though slowly in form, with the action conjugate momentum taking up the variation. Animals adapt quickly, sometimes instantaneously, sometimes within a season or generations, with the energy dimension permitting great variation in behavior.
Action is brought to the world in every light wave, and quickly leads to astonishing varieties in molecular forms and activity.
The resulting varieties of action can be resolved into many different conjugate pairs, such as
1. Position and momentum: Flowers and their forms are the most obvious examples.
2. Momentum and length (closely equivalent to (1) includes spider webs, long-tongued insects and reptiles, and the peculiar glowing worms of certain caves, which capture insects in sticky goo.
3. Energy and time. E.g. puffball fungus; 17-year cicadas; bombardier beetles, trap door spiders
3. Mass and area/time. Lichens and moss are good examples
4. Many other far more complex variations on the action, including echo location among bats and porpoises
The action can involve scents and fragrances, flavors, pheromones, and all the exotic varieties and so on. Variations in nature are extreme and constitute a wonderfully varied selection of nature programs on television.
The point is that now, as this new millennium opens, the world has just completed thousands of years of painfully groping, often brutal struggle to reach the Moon, complete with honest confusion, similarly honest mistakes where the confusion was equated with, say, imaginary threats from outer space, or outright opposition to attempting the Moon, and all kinds of other excuses for war.
Everywhere on Earth, human populations are turning gratefully to the activity of rebuilding their civilizations, constructing their cities anew, and this time with the happy event of having enough peace to decorate them with hope - sadly so long neglected. It takes a truly callous person to defile the new societies and the new constructions now that the world, even the entire solar system, has essentially no shadows of fear, ignorance or doubt.
Unashamed of their relief at finding a few years of peace, human beings are absolutely justified everywhere in the world for being vigilant and suspicious of violations of that peace. Nobody needs to be ashamed of being grateful for peace.
Yet there will always be that great range of activity taking place, in which at one end will be abundant, careful time and intelligence to design win-win relationships, and at the other end, the simple expedience, in the absence of intelligence, of engaging in the zero-sum action of violating some more passive and vulnerable pray. In most cases, human beings keep the zero sum predator-prey relationships off the table and out of the house, as the domain of pestilential creatures such as termites, and carnivorous creatures such as rats, big cats and bears.
The problem is that economic systems are not well designed to avoid triggering zero-sum responses throughout the range from wealth the poverty. In fact, economic systems to date do not appear to directly address the problem at all on either the wealthy end or the poor end.
Now the space aliens are gone back to the imagination at least for the foreseeable future; now there are human footprints on the Moon, and Mars is positively littered with old robots.
There is abundant time now to examine human institutions more closely, and see just how it is, and to what extent, the concepts of John von Neumann and Oskar Morganstern permit the human choices of zero-sum and win-win structures on the way in which competition is permitted to exist in economic activity.
Probably, those ideas will shape the evolution of species on earth for millions of years.
It would be a shame not to do something decisive in the range of natural competition during the next century, or even this new millennium.
Though getting with the action invited extremes, failure to know the implications of those extremes will leave many human populations, high and low, ignorance of the potential dangers in their fates.

Transcendent Moon
Flowers cultivated into existence
Electric eels and birds of flight
Mammals conserving warm charges
Moon in Galactic center
Attaining the Moon implied a great deal which cannot be phrased in any brief way.
Since billions of years ago life itself has provided the intelligence which escorted its descendants, offspring, progeny and new forms into existence. At first that was only a sort of life-equity, though even that was better than being born in a nest of predators.
The present economic quandary began long, long ago. It has attributes that reflect a number of extremely long-term factors which began half a Galactic cycle in the prehistoric past. Because of that, it is a scenario worthy of thought by as many people as possible. Fortunately, the new worldwide media are certain to make that feasible and productive.
It is important because even so long ago, once these and perhaps other factor principles were grasped, the Moon was a done deal. Billions of years old itself, a difference emerged between the ancient Moon of the Past, and the New Moon of the future. No organism or being guessed it would be a hundred million years before any foot print was placed on the Moon. In all that time, nothing conceived, understood, guessed or knowingly dreamed just what the Truth of World would be.
It would be sixty million years before the earliest recognizable pre-human beings emerged. Only certain details are not important here.
Among other things, it must be presumed that life which balanced charges as well as mass was nonetheless ignorant of the nature of the problems which eventually would be faced in attaining the Moon. However, modern understanding of electricity should permit human beings to make some shrewd guesses regarding just what is being rapidly devolved in charges now that footprints exist on the Moon. The author hardly dares suggest even a fragment of the possibilities except to show the idea: balancing charges would have been a part of life, and a part too of whatever life recognized as an overriding evolutionary mandate. The existence of electric eels and birds are probably are based on what was then, long ago, a new concept. In one way or another, electrical charge were incorporated into the order of life.
Charges are not the only thing. Spectra were another. Fossils suggest that species were adapting to color much earlier. Yet when flowering plants emerged, it meant that even plants had conceived at least part of the order of light. Charges and spectra are among the vitally important principle factors involved in the long run economic recovery now that the Moon and other objects in the Solar System have important artificial objects on them which originated here on Earth.
It is vital that certain essential facts be recognized as at least necessary in one of the most important views of the events. In particular, it was determined that no significant sign of any other life forms than those which exist on Earth have ever been discovered anywhere other than on Earth. That is, none of the other Moons and Planets of the solar system have any living things on them, and the attempts to discover them have been quite sophisticated. It appears that it would be a vital and serious mistake to delay solutions to the economic state of the Earth in any vain or protracted attempt to wait until it is absolutely proved beyond every possible shadow of doubt, that life does or does not exist on objects in the solar system other than Earth.
In other words, it does not matter whether any life is every discovered on another object in the solar system or not: solutions to the problems which are emerging as a result of the successful attainment of space flight must be formulated no matter what extremely long shot possibilities can be dreamed up.
The main discovery was that no gods, monsters, demons, space aliens, extraterrestrial life or living threats of any kind appear to exist on or from
any object in the Solar System. Second, the stars are too far away to consider any kind of serious threat, and any such imagination should be scrutinized for intercultural and international competition on Earth.
Third, no other object in the Solar System is capable of sustaining life at this time, and not for the foreseeable future either. The sole exception is temporary place for space ships from Earth to visit. At the present time, their cost is prohibitive, and Earth's solutions to Earth problems cannot wait.
Earth's problem are well known, primarily including irresponsible reproduction, war, and failure to develop agriculture locally in areas of chronic famine. More lax and indulgent ways of describing those problems can be developed if it is necessary, and other problems can be identified as well. Sorry to appear so unsparing, but famine is even less merciful.
One key to understanding the long term economic problems is that in the fundamental constant called the quantum of action, there is a tradeoff between time and energy. If one would consider very long term issues, problems, opportunities or other economic factors, they should be carefully understood in terms of their atomic, electronic, molecular and species energy.
Thus it is possible to say that the green oxygen line's spectral energy was at play a hundred million years ago, and so every organism that depended on green foliage conceived that energy. That particular energy was stable all that time. It is an Oxygen I line at 557.7 Angstroms. Green lines arise from Magnesium and other elements as well. The elemental spectral energies are clues to the nature of the energy 'crisis' as Earth adjusts to the new though surprisingly prosaic truth about itself from the discoveries of the space exploration.
If long term issues are not taken into account, attempts to control, adjust, repair, fix or redesign the economic systems will be clumsy and ill prepared to detect changes that emerge slowly from great depth.
Other long-term issues obtain. For instance, the entire spectrum of light-like waves, ranging from gamma, X-ray, ultraviolet, visible, infrared, millimeter, microwave and meter wave bands has been measured, mapped, allocated, and is now governed throughout the world by human beings. A few problems can be foreseen, mostly from residual control. Rational solutions to issues of all kinds are routine now in relation to the electric field spectrum. Only one serious problem seems to this observer to exist, and it cannot but find solutions emerging wherever it arises. It is the intensely technocratic insistence on imposing an artificial regime of electrical permittivity and magnetic permeability where it is not and never was necessary. Probably, failure to take into account the liberty of dispensing with such iron-clad control of the human species will eventually generate the appropriate corrections for that totalitarian approach.
Some fantastic scenarios emerge. One is that the massive constructions which began with the huge sandstone block pyramids may be either vastly redundant, exaggerated, and literally fascist, or, on the other hand, even more massive constructions-or misconstructions-may take place in the future. The point is that human beings, human civilization, MUST take the responsibility for examining what justification exists for BOTH those extremes, and make sensible, real-world, finite-planet decisions.
Economic theory is bound to make new and important resolutions. Among those which can be predicted is the necessity of accounting charges electron by electron in the most sensitive areas. The extent to which economic activity will be detailed in such minutia is not known. It must simply be assumed that some such detail will be necessary for some of the economic factors.
Energy accounting will continue to increase in thoroughness and will probably cause exasperation among many economic agents until the critical issues are identified. The role of interpersonal competition in economic allocation has been avoided stringently since the terrible disasters of recent wartime activity, but it will not be possible to avoid facing those issues completely.
Another area is that certain ancient economic goals have been achieved, yet they are not well coordinated with what is essentially an awkward, groping, inexperienced planetary economy. The most important of these is the production of adequate food for the population. The attainment of that goal must be considered as an event in itself, and isolated from other factors with sufficient insulation, that it can be allowed to survive of itself. Mechanized agriculture was of course the key, and genetic modification of food crops is, though controversial, certain to be among future solutions. The seemingly trivial introduction of food debit cards has made distribution of food resources almost completely independent of the political form of the economy. For that reason, food production and distribution should be considered close to a central, kernel, or key economic factor in planning other economic activities, and it must not be made dependent on other factors for its successful implementation.
This introduces the controversial idea that no OTHER economic activity can be allowed to jeopardize food production and distribution. Corollaries include possibilities that raise tempers on the opposite side of the aisle no matter which side is fool enough to mention its hopes first.
One view is that those who want to impose the requirement that without producing something lucrative or profitable for the state, family, gens, nation, people or economy, no person should be given food. The argument is that no person should be forced to feed another.
The other view is that every person must be given a sufficient food supply from birth throughout his or her lifetime, whether he or she works, produces or does anything else. That argument is that abundant food is an absolute right no matter what overpopulation is.
One can almost hear shellfire between those two paragraphs. Yet the truth is, that food production was from ancient times until the invention of the steam engine plagued with famine, hunger, starvation and malnutrition. As soon as mechanized agricultural implements were available they were exported throughout the world. The mechanization of world agriculture was probably the most rapid total change in process of any that ever existed in world history. The urgency was absolute. The job remains unfinished, and a fairly clear idea of what “finished” will mean is well known everywhere. It is where every humanly occupied region has enough energy and mechanized agriculture to feed its population. Stopgap regimes include importing food from other regions, but inevitably, regional production will continue forever to be the mainstay of regional consumption.
Some long term evolutionary problems are:
Animal molecular activity is beginning to come to terms with the absolutely linear measures of energy and it is discovering that changes in the elevation of food and nutrient molecule energy in plant and animal circulation are the same. That is, it takes exactly as much energy to raise a carbon atom ten centimeters in a plant, as it does to raise the same kind of carbon atom ten centimeters in an animal or human being. Other energy considerations similarly obtain. Yet no straightforward attempt to equate these two energy scales ever existed before because it was on hold for a hundred million years until such time as the Moon could be attained.
Other discoveries were that the Moon and planets are the kind of objects, which only truly compelled discovering what they were and whether they held any threats to life on Earth. In other words, they do not compel any hurried return to them. Human civilization being powerful as it is, Mars will be explored in a relatively near term time scale. It will not be any million years, ten thousand or even a hundred, before human beings walk on Mars and return to Earth with pieces of it.
What was discovered, partly as a result of the emergence of the element silicon into native intelligence, is the information returned from several Mars probes such as the Viking Lander, the rovers Sojourner, Spirit and Opportunity, the HiRise cameras and the soon to be launched plutonium-powered Curiosity rover. That information gave highly accurate estimates of the Martian surface and its conditions, which indicate that either no life at all exists there if it ever did, or that it is so faint and scarce that intense scrutiny will be required to find it. In neither case is any threat sensibly conceivable from Mars. The same is true for all the visible planets of the solar system – the Moon, Sun, Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn, and the two less visible planets Uranus and Neptune. Nobody's there.
It is partly failing to face such facts that is causing economic malaise.
Nobody is willing to commit to any particular very-long-run corrections until such time as it is proven that – what? Space aliens have landed in New Jersey? Wrong. Until it is proven that no space aliens can possible exist ever? Wrong.
Until it is understood that the probability of space aliens anywhere in the Solar System is so low that time is wasted waiting for any to be discovered. Right.
Until it is understood that it is likely to be ten thousand years before beings from Earth seriously attempt to reach any other star system than Earth's.
Now let's get busy making certain we are not tripping over our own or each other's feet. Not obstructed by obsolete and unnecessary constructions that were thought vital necessities a scant few decades ago, which look so fine nobody dares remove them, which, to be sure, should be weighed carefully.
An example is the German anti-aircraft gun mounts in Vienna, Austria. Why in the world have those not been demolished? There they are, and people must go on talking about what kind of economic changes can be made with that assumption darkening every otherwise sunlit day in the assumption they are to remain.
Hundreds or thousands of unnecessary war preparations like that exist throughout the world. They remain like piles of old dinosaur claws, distorting thought and crippling optimism when optimism should be echoing throughout the millennium.
Clearing history cannot wait until the old folks die off. Timely death does not take dinosaurs or war relics away. It does not point out things which should be removed because they are literally constructed of pain and sorrow and regret. The errors from a hundred million or a million years ago will not go away with the mere passage of time, even several generations of it. It needs people who are interested in dinosaurs and how the world moved from that to making pyramids and then to columns and beams and to the Parthenon and Great Wall, and whether errors exist now which were created then. Assumptions like whether slavery exists if it is imposed statistically through money, or by force through whips and chains. Assumptions like the idea that hundreds of millions of vehicles must rumble and stampede down the evolutionary paths of dinosaurs as if there is some cosmological law dragging the elements into racing across the surface of the Earth.
Present day economic studies of the recession are like daubing a hemorrhage with a cotton swab. Of course digging into the facts of civilization requires the free exchange of ideas, and requires even more primitive, ancient issues to be resolved despite events of recent and stupendous gravity such as genocide. Yet not facing those things is inviting old pyramids to emerge from the jungle and stalk around like the behemoth of war.
